  • The discipline " Financial management (advanced course)" 1 credit / 2 ECTS
    • Historically the investment practice, regulation, evaluation of the results of asset portfolio management and the presentation of reports about the investment activity results significantly varied in different countries. Some countries have established the main, internally adopted principles of calculating the investment effectiveness and reporting, while others have several standards for reporting on investment performance. This practice limited the comparability of the results of firms' investment activities in different countries and created impediments for firms to enter global markets.
Due to the variety of involved financial institutions and countries, the globalization of the investment process and the exponential growth of managed assets, the necessity of calculations standardization and presentation of investment performance becomes evident. The consequence of this need is the relevance of specialists with the relevant knowledge.
Therefore, the main distinguishing feature of the academic discipline "Advanced financial management" is the orientation towards the international standards in the field of training of practicing financial managers.
Other features of the course include:
      - more advanced and enhanced study of issues covered earlier in such disciplines as "Corporate Finance" and "Financial Management",
      - the opportunity to implement in practice the theoretical knowledge gained,
      - creation of information that is not available in applying classical approaches and financial management procedures at the bottomed stock markets.
The issues of portfolio management in practice imply the knowledge and skills of a financial manager in such fields as matrix algebra, multidimensional research methods, etc. It’s simply impossible to obtain an effective portfolio area for three or more assets without knowledge of quadratic programming methods and corresponding optimization procedures. It would also be a mistake (a lack of professional training) to reduce the entire power of discriminant analysis to the Altman method. According to the objectives, there are increasing requirements for providing the course with modern software products.
Discipline is developed in accordance with the state standard of postgraduate education and therefore it consistently relates to other disciplines of the professional educational program studied in "Finance".
