Istanbul, WIT 2025: the scientific contribution of our university to the transport industry

On January 30, 2025, the first international conference "Women in the Transport Sector (WIT)" was held in Istanbul (Turkey), attended by S.K. Mazhitova, PhD in Economics, Head of the Department of Marketing and Logistics at our University.

The conference, organized within the framework of the Women in the Transport Sector initiative, brought together representatives of various international organizations, including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the International Transport Forum (ITF), the World Bank Group (IBRD/IFF, IFS and MIGA), as well as the European Investment Bank..

In his welcoming speech, the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr. Abdulkadir Uraloglu, highlighted the key role of women in the transport and logistics sector, noting that underestimating their contribution leads to lagging behind. The WIT initiative aims to promote women's employment and leadership, and empower them in this sector.

The conference was attended by representatives from Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. Kazakhstan was represented by Gabdullina A.M. (Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan); Amanzholova A.T. (JSC NC KazAvtoZhol), Mazhitova S.K. (KarUKazpotrebsoyuz) 

Panel sessions were held within the framework of the conference, which were attended by experts from different countries, including the former Minister of Transport of Jordan, the Deputy Minister of Ukraine and the heads of transport departments of Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Turkey and other countries.
